Thomas Spanos's Dream Probe

I had this dream on the first of November, 1993;

"I was in the attic. Old dark wood there. The saucer brushed up against the roof. Frightened. Terrified. But how could it reach to harm me? Then the probe glowing white floated into my space. Run! Ack. It shot to me. Harpooned and hooked up the nose. Nasal cavity pierced. Bleeding. Little sharp pains. They don't care. Helpless. I saw the body lifted head first with feet dangling, nasal tissue distended by the instrument. Into the craft somehow. The saucer lifted and took purchase on the side of the roof. Repositioned to be sturdy. Like an animal moving the kill to a comfortable niche in which to sup. I could see levers extending through slits on the saucer's belly. Levers and blades moving from side to side, my motionless body in their path. Notice others running. More probes dispatched."

According to my diary entry from that day the memory of the dream was not with me when I awoke. Instead the events of this night terror suddenly washed over me as I was walking home from class. I then set out to sculpt this strange and cruel object, exactly as it appeared in my vision. This Dream Probe now hangs over my bed, suspended by transparent thread. My personal version of the sword of Damocles. This probe also represents a slice of my dreamscape rendered whole in my conscious plane of existence. Though a memento of darkness, it remains a cherished part of who I am.
