After the holiday had come and gone, our pumpkin friends began to decay. It seemed disrespectful to place them into a dumpster, so we drove our jacque-o-lanterns out to the forest, where they might better become one with the Earth once more.

We checked in on our retired pumpkin friends at their resting place in the last days of December 2002. Their amber husks have flattened and evidence of late night snacking by forest animals can be found. It feels good to know nature's process is being carried out undisturbed.
