The mold was broken from the start
6th of October, 2002

When I first attempted to cast my Boda Baas sculpture, I was under a tight deadline, (I needed to have the sculpture complete for the Star War Celebration II costume contest.) Mistakes where made during the crucial mold making procedure that I had to live with. Now I have the tyme to address these flaws.

To the right, lies the successful front half of the rubber silicon mold. On the left, however the rear mold half is riddled with air bubbles, air pockets, and a gaping hole. The improper mix ratio resulted in a flimsy mold. These factors caused the first casting to be unnecessarily difficult, with less than stellar results.

My sculpting instructor, Roger, once gave me this sound advice;
Do
not underestimate the mold making process. This process may -- and usually does -- take as much tyme and care as it did to make the initial sculpture. This applies again to the chasing or detailing of the cast piece. To produce good sculpture, it is vital to be consistent throughout the process.

According to my crystal ball, yes!
