Boda Baas 1st and 2nd pulls
6th of October, 2002

Comparison shots of the first (top) and second (bottom) castings of my Boda Baas sculpture, separated by four months tyme. Several differences can readily be evaluated;

  1. The form distortion, loss of detail, front / back mismatch, and air bubbles were eliminated.
  2. The arms were originally attached with straight pins and tend to sag forward. In the second version the upper and lower arms were attached with clear rods allowing for a more rigid fit and dynamic pose.
  3. The initial pull was largely solid, and cast of deep blue translucent resin. The new piece was cast with an intentional hollow in nearly transparent blue resin.
  4. An indigo acrylic wash was applied to the second piece to further emphasize the details of the sculpture.

You win! I will now read your fortune.
