Durge, amour evolution
I began to imagine a back story to the evolution of Durge's armour. The character of Durge is reported to be over two thousand years olde by the tyme of The Clone Wars. Perhaps pieces of the armour Durge wears in this conflict are similarly olde; heavy amour designed to fend off melee weapons, constantly upgraded and repaired as the centuries march past. This creates a possible explanation of the high tech yet simultaneously archaic appearance of Durge's battle wear.
