Durge shin armour, process
With this image, I wanted to document the steps in creating one piece of armour, roughly from start to finish;

1. A mold wall with keys is added to the initial clay sculpture.
2. A waste mold is produced in plaster, cleaned and coated with a release agent.
3. The mold is coated in a bondo and resin mixture. Once cured, this skin is additionally reinforced with fibreglass. After the fibreglass has hardened, the plaster is removed from the cast piece. Where necessary, the mold is forcibly cleared with hammer and chisel. The emancipated fibreglass piece is then trimmed and sanded extensively.
4. After the addition of a trap door for ankle release, initial paint and hardware are applied.
