Cernunnos
means "horned-one." This spirit god was revered by
Iron Age Celts in both Britain and France. His unwavering image
has been found in over a dozen artifacts, most notably the mysterious
Gundestrup cauldron, (Denmark.) Cernunnos is almost always
depicted with 7 tines, or points per antler, and is attended
by a mythical horned serpent. He is associated with reincarnation,
fertility, and good fortune in the hunt. In Medieval tymes his
worship was seen as a threat to the Church, and this benevolent
deity was transformed into the Christian devil.
