Prince Xizor costume Gallery

[ back ] 12 [ forth ]

I. The sculpted spine, in clay, prepared on a moisture-proofed board.
II. The negative mold. Constructed with a dense plaster called UltraCal 30.
III. The cured cast positive in layered, coloured, latex rubber.

Before the latex was fully cured for this attempt, I realized that I would not be content with the piece as the final set of back spines for my costume. I had been musing over various interpretations of Prince Xizor, when I came to the conclusion that the features of this sculpture were too uniform. I will next repeat the process, this tyme producing more pronounced and exaggerated spine horns with fewer scales.
