It is funny to me now that the theme of this book was in part decided by the release the movie Batman. I was disappointed by the trend to remake familiar tales, such as that of the Caped Crusader, rather than create new legends. Dearer still was the concern that I had begun to repeat myself in my own art. And I feared that my recent work did not match up to that which I had done before. (I thought I was supposed to be improving.)

Fortunately, I came to terms with my abilities and moved on. This is my telling of the escape from Minos, told by so many others before me. By doing so this I echo the sentiment behind this book. But lo, there is something different. The image is digital. And what's more, done on a computer that I had paid for with my own money, earned at my first job out of college. I would have done well to better celebrate my accomplishments. Ah well, live, observe, and learn. And most importantly, enjoy.
