Barbara I have known since grade school. I had a chance to know her again in college.

I would not say that people change overtime. I believe that like the oak seed, all the components that make up the adult individual form early on in life, (although these may not be visible until maturity.) This Barbara, to my thinking, was always a sensitive and considerate being. Her eyes are very thoughtful.

On the front of her piece Barbara drew a dolphin, swimming through a sea of nutrient rich green algae. The fibrous cotton and glue mixture in the motif was used to effect a texture of aquatic life. Barbara wanted to pay homage to her own parents with this portrait, recognizing the supportive, nourishing environment that they provided for her as she matured.

Though not clearly represented with this scan, Barbara used her thumbprint on the back of this piece as a personal signature. Thank you my friend.
