media : copper wire, silver spray paint, gold and red paint marker, black permanent marker, hip bone of a small bird, and I am pretty sure there's "eye of newt" somewheres in there too.

This is not the devil. I have to believe that George would be amused if you thought this was, (the devil.) At the tyme that George made this he was amidst the creation of a life size Minotaur, using an amalgam of bone, paint, and electronic surplus. This is a unit of inspiration from that piece.

I fear that the casual observer often takes art created with found objects for granted. The natural tendency may be for the observer to identify the component in question and move on to the next, never considering what history the piece might have had. In fact it is difficult to perceive just how much the individual has contributed of himself into an art piece of this nature. In art created of found objects, every component has its own tale; how the object came to be, how the artist happened to find it, what was it about the object that spoke to the artist's senses, et cetera. I feel that art created in this way has a life of its own, beyond that which the creative process may have imbued the art with.
