Spanos, The Younger Many ingredients went into this. The variety of components in this piece reflects the multitude of ideas that occurred to me while contemplating my own portrait. I now think that part of the incentive to initiate the second Puzzle Project 1990-1999b was to permit myself space for ideas that occurred to me after I made this piece. This is a piece about inspiration, it is about dreams. The glowing green field represents the pure energy of dreams. The blue mound represents my physical existence. Forsooth the blue mound is a casting of my left nipple, closest to my heart. (I made the casting alone and late at night in one of laboratories at my University. It bemused me to think how drol it would be if some late night scholar should happen by.) The copper strands are tapping into the dream energy and into the physical existance maintaining an equilibrium. Or least that is what I was feeling when I made this piece. It did not seem right set out to create an object to represent myself and to not have at least some of my own blood in the piece. Underneath the blue mound I did write in my blood a message encoded in Runes, "all of me." This
