Nancy was in my graduating
class in college, a fellow student of graphic design. During the course
of our studies, we determined that we had in fact attended the same high
school--separated by one year. With the prospect of graduation at hand,
the process of bidding farewell to our classmates became emotionally awkward.
Nancy choose to express herself citing our common scholastic history and
signed her portrait to me as one might sign a high school year book. In
this way the classic K.I.T. (keep in touch,) and stay sweet phrases so
noncommittal in their original context, took on a personal meaning. While
we did not know each other in high school, college afforded us a second
chance and a lasting friendship.
