The Gift Piece
For four years we both resided in the same campus town. However, my dealings with Trina I could count on one hand. I never really knew Trina, rather I knew of her. I wanted to know her--I thought she was as cool as beans. Once Trina had invited me to a party. Something trivial occurred and I was unable to attend. I wish that I had gone. I learned--perhaps a year later--that I had not merely missed a party but a one tyme extravaganza. I heard vague rumors of costumes and scenery all of which Trina had orchestrated with great pains over several months of preparation. When I came upon Trina next, I asked her to tell me of her happening. Trina's cryptic reply;

"You should have come."

When I last encountered Trina, I was performing at the Dream Wheel Circus. The Dream Wheel Circus was a magical event in its own right, borne on the powerfully creative backs of musician brothers Jason and Mathew Docter. In addition to the performance theatre, The Dream Wheel Circus hosted a wonderfully eclectic gallery. This was the first tyme that I had put the pieces from this Project physically on display. Trina had seen the exhibit during one night's performance and was inspired. Returning for the last performance of the Dream Wheel Circus, Trina begifted me with this piece. I was so deeply honoured. I thank you Trina.
