Surrealville, Principality of buZ
In Paris, France, in July of 1995, I first met the artist. BuZ and I had come to participate in Le Peintre NATO's Art et Absence d'Habits. This was my first "happening" and what a happening to chip a tooth on it was. A collection of thirty some artists had come from around the globe to explore the given topic of Art in the Absense of clothing. Interpretations of the theme ranged from the classic to the obscene and back again. I was secretly bemused by the novelty of being referred to as the American--as if I had some exotic nationality.

In July of 2000, whence the group reconvened for the final festival, buZ contributed to the performances. BuZ stood unadorned in Le Peintre NATO's arena. Then, per his instruction, two assistants--Le Peintre NATO himself and Loco--painted his torso front and back with the numerals 108 and 113. These numbers were in homage to Marcel Duchamp whose 108th and 113th birthdays coincided with both of Art et Absense d'Habits that we had attended.
